We offer A Level, and BTEC courses in a range of subjects. Whatever your interest or skill set, we have the courses to suit you and the teachers and facilities to ensure that you achieve.
Whilst every effort will be made to run the courses on offer in our prospectus some may have to be withdrawn if there is not enough interest.
Entry Requirements
Students applying to study three A levels should expect to achieve at least five grade 5+ GCSEs (including Maths & English). Students may be advised to study a Level 3 BTEC if they have achieved four grade 5+ GCSEs in addition to grade 4+ in Maths & English. Please check the minimum entry requirements for specific courses you wish to study and consider your GCSE predictions/results before making your choice.
Description:
This creative and thought-provoking qualification gives students the practical skills, theoretical knowledge and confidence to succeed in a number of careers. Especially those in the creative industries. Students will investigate historical, social, cultural, environmental and economic influences on design and technology, whilst enjoying opportunities to put their learning in to practice by producing prototypes of their choice. Students will gain a real understanding of what it means to be a designer, alongside the knowledge and skills sought by higher education and employers.
Assessment:
The final grade is comprised from 50% exam (2 papers) and 50% Non- Examined Assessment.
Description:
Studying A-Level Classics (like Classical Civilisation, Latin, or Ancient History) develops crucial analytical, essay-writing, and critical thinking skills, offering deep insights into Western culture's foundations through literature, history, and philosophy, making it excellent preparation for diverse university degrees (English, Law, Politics, Medicine) and careers, even if you don't pursue Classics further. It enhances understanding of modern issues by linking them to timeless themes and provides strong linguistic foundations.
Assessment:
Three written exams covering topics like Homer, Virgil, Greek theatre, imperial image, and Greek religion, with questions ranging from short answers to longer essays, assessed through components like literature, visual culture, and thought:
Paper 1 (40%) on the "World of the Hero"
Paper 2 (30%) on "Culture and the Arts,"
Paper 3 (30%) on "Beliefs and Ideas"
